Our Philosophy
Our mission at Sambuca is to provide organic and sustainable products and services. We hope to inspire people to think differently about the things they buy, how they are made, where they come from, and vote for a more sustainable world. We are taking baby steps towards creating a more sustainable future for the animal, plant and human species.
Every individual has the power to make a positive change in the world.
Certified organic cotton is grown using sustainable farming practices that maintain and replenish soil fertility without the use of toxic and persistent pesticides and fertilizers. Sustainable and organic growing methods support biodiversity and healthy ecosystems, improving the quality of the soil, using less water and helping to prevent groundwater pollution.
Twenty five percent of the worlds’ pesticides are sprayed on cotton, causing devastation to our land, air, water and the health of people living in conventional cotton-growing areas. Every garment supports our vision and hope of a cleaner, kinder earth.
Fair trade is a system that supports sweatshop-free factories and aims to pay fair wages. Purchasing fairly traded products supports safe and healthy conditions for workers in the developing world. Fairly traded items don't cost more than other goods, because fair trade businesses work directly with producers, cutting out anywhere from 3 - 10 middlemen who raise the price along the way in conventional trading. The cost to consumers typically remains the same while a higher percentage of the price is returned to the artisans and farmers who made the product.
Sambuca carries eco conscious purses and bags that are made from materials that would otherwise end up in landfills. The designers we have chosen use candy wrappers, billboard signs, vintage dresses, license plates, skateboards and yacht sails.
Sambuca as a company recycles and reuses whenever possible. A local soap company reuses our packaging materials and we purchase bags, boxes and paper made from post consumer waste.
